FROM MASS MANUFACTURING TO MASS VACCINATION
Barwon Health
CHALLENGES
The former Ford factory in Geelong, famous for its mass rollout of cars, is currently home to a streamlined, mass rollout of Covid-19 vaccinations, in the race towards State vax targets.
Presented with a derelict shell, part of the former Ford factory in Norlane, Grindstone was engaged to visually transform a large, open space into a warm and welcoming COVID-19 vaccination hub to service the Geelong and Surf Coast region.
Our brief was to create a balance between engaging visual design, and clear informational, and wayfinding content.
STRATEGY
Grindstone had developed a visual identity for Barwon Health’s public facing COVID-19 microsite, and rapidly applied this to the vast signage collateral for the new hub.
The illustrative, human-centric and approachable style provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere, inducing a sense of trust and calm in what can be a confronting experience for many in the community.
OUTCOMES
From inception to installation, Grindstone managed the full process for Barwon Health and delivered within the tight timeframe of a couple of weeks before opening, in addition to creating the vast suite of artwork.
The indoor and outdoor signage includes large format wall decals, Aboriginal cultural applications, corflutes, window etch film, floor decals, pull up banners, hanging directional signage, A-boards plus more. The visual identity has also been applied to other collateral such as flyers and vaccination cards, and Grindstone continues to develop further items as required by Barwon Health.
